Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 2025  ·  Gen Y Solutions

Overview

Gen Y Solutions ("we," "us," or "our") operates as a real-world data collection infrastructure company. We build custom data collection programs for AI laboratories, robotics companies, and foundation model developers. This policy explains how we handle data in three distinct contexts:

  • Website visitors — people who visit genysolutions.tech
  • Collection participants — individuals and site operators who participate in our data collection programs
  • Client engagements — AI labs and companies that commission data collection from us

Our core business is collecting environmental and operational data from physical environments: factories, construction sites, farms, warehouses, ports, and urban areas. We do not build consumer products. We do not sell personal data to advertisers. The data we collect on behalf of clients is processed under strict contractual obligations.

Who We Are

Gen Y Solutions is a data collection infrastructure company building the network layer between physical environments and AI foundation model training. We are incorporated and operate primarily in Africa, with planned expansion to South America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Data We Collect

Website Data

When you visit our website, we may collect standard server log data including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and referral source. This data is used solely for operating and improving the website. We do not run behavioral advertising or sell this data.

Inquiry and Contact Data

If you contact us via email or a contact form, we retain your name, email address, company, and the content of your message. This is used only to respond to your inquiry and to assess potential business relationships.

Collection Participants

Our primary work involves deploying data collection programs in physical environments. This section applies to workers, site operators, and any individuals present during collection activities.

What We Collect in Field Programs

  • Video footage (first-person egocentric, overhead, multi-angle)
  • Sensor data: LiDAR point clouds, IMU readings, depth maps, audio, GPS coordinates, thermal imaging
  • Operational metadata: timestamps, environment type, weather conditions, equipment type
  • Annotated activity logs and event classifications

Personal Data in Collection Programs

Collection programs may incidentally capture images or audio of identifiable individuals. We handle this in one of three ways, depending on the engagement design:

  • Anonymization at capture — faces and identifying features are blurred or masked before delivery
  • Informed consent — participants sign consent agreements prior to collection; data is processed only with documented consent
  • Controlled environments — some programs operate in access-controlled industrial sites where all personnel are informed participants

No collection program is conducted covertly. We operate with the knowledge and consent of site operators and, where required, individual participants.

Participant Rights

Individuals who participate in our collection programs have the right to withdraw consent, request deletion of their personal data from collected materials, or request to review what data pertaining to them has been collected. Contact us at info@genysolutions.tech with any such requests.

Client Data

AI labs, robotics companies, and other clients engage us to collect datasets on their behalf. In these engagements:

  • The client defines the data specification, including sensor types, environments, annotation schemas, and metadata requirements
  • We act as a data processor on behalf of the client, who is the data controller
  • Collected datasets are transferred to the client via encrypted, audited channels
  • We do not retain copies of delivered datasets beyond the agreed retention window unless required by law or contract
  • We do not use client-commissioned data for any purpose other than the commissioned engagement

All client engagements are governed by a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that specifies data handling obligations, security requirements, retention limits, and compliance obligations. Clients may request a copy of our standard DPA by contacting info@genysolutions.tech.

How We Use Data

We use data collected through our operations for the following purposes:

  • Fulfilling contracted data collection engagements for clients
  • Quality assurance and review of collected materials before delivery
  • Internal operations: scheduling, logistics, collection network management
  • Compliance: maintaining audit trails required by law or client contract
  • Improving collection methodologies and data quality standards

We do not use collected environmental data to train our own AI models. We do not monetize collected data outside of the commissioned engagement that produced it.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal data. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

  • With clients — as the commissioned output of a collection engagement
  • With service providers — cloud storage, secure transfer, annotation tooling vendors who operate under confidentiality agreements
  • Legal compliance — if required by applicable law, court order, or regulatory authority
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to equivalent data protections

Data Retention

Retention periods vary by data type:

  • Website logs — 90 days
  • Inquiry and contact data — 24 months, or until the relationship ends
  • Collected field data — held for the duration specified in the client DPA; typically deleted within 30 days of client delivery confirmation
  • Consent records — retained for 5 years to demonstrate compliance
  • Financial and contractual records — retained as required by applicable law (typically 7 years)

Security

We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we handle:

  • End-to-end encryption for data in transit and at rest
  • Access controls and role-based permissions for all internal systems
  • Audit logs for all access to collected datasets
  • Vendor security assessments for all third-party data processors
  • Incident response procedures with client notification obligations

Given that our collection programs often occur in industrial and operational environments, physical security protocols are also defined for each deployment.

International Data Transfers

Gen Y Solutions operates across multiple jurisdictions, with initial operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, and planned expansion globally. Data collected in one jurisdiction may be transferred to another for processing or delivery to clients.

We ensure that cross-border transfers comply with applicable data protection law, including through:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where required
  • Client-specified transfer restrictions and approved jurisdictions
  • Encryption during all transfer operations

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:

  • Access to personal data we hold about you
  • Correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restriction or objection to processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdrawal of consent (where processing is consent-based)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@genysolutions.tech. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing the request.
